"Last chance to turn back. I can say I was sick." I said. We stood at the door of my parents house. I could hear the noise of everyone inside. My last chance to change Marks mind and heading home. I knew exactly what was going to happen and to be honest I didn't know if Mark could handle it. Most of my family was going to be in there and after hearing we broke up, Marks not going to be a hot topic.
"We are going inside. I don't understand what you're afraid of. I've met your family before. They don't seem like the terrible people you are making them out to be." Mark said. "They aren't its just.... I'm afraid they will gang up on you. You aren't the hottest person in my family right now. Just be careful." He nodded and grabbed my hand as my other hand knocked on the door. I heard foot steps then the door opened up revealing my Ma. "(Y/N)!" "Ma!" We hugged then she looked over at Mark. My brain was yelling, Retreat! but then she cracked a smile. "Its good to see you Mark! Come in!" We walked in as she closed the door. "I'm cooking in the kitchen while the rest of them are in the living room if you would like to join them." I nodded. We walked into the living room. Da and Malcom were talking while Sean, Signe and Allison were laughing about something. "Mark, (Y/N)! Glad you decided to come." Signe said as she gave us a hug. I whispered to her. "More like forced to come. Mark wouldn't let me not come." She giggled. "Well I'm happy you're here." I smiled. "Yeah I can't wait for your famous cookies!" Sean said. I rolled my eyes. "Famous cookies? Why haven't I heard of these?" Mark asked. "I only make them for new years and only good people get them." I winked. Mark chuckled. "Oh she's not kidding. Sean and I didn't get them one year because we called her poopy pants one time because she fell in mud." Allison said. Mark and Sean laughed. "I was 8 and you guys wouldn't stop so I had to take something away." "Ma just gave you to much power." I rolled my eyes again. "Whatever. Keep this up and you'll go another year without my cookies." Sean and Allison stopped talking immediately. I gave them a sly smile. "You might want to start making them cookies if we're going to eat them after dinner." Malcom said as he gave me a hug. "Its nice to see you again." I told him. "You too. Now go make these kids some cookies." I laughed. "You good?" I asked Mark. He nodded. "Yeah I'll be fine." I smile and gave him a smooch on the cheek then left to the kitchen. "Hey Ma, I was told I should start making my cookies." She nodded. "Go ahead. I shouldn't be in your way. It'll be like the old days." I smiled. "Yeah. it sure will."

I started this tradition when I was about 6. Ma took me into the kitchen to get away from my older brothers and sisters. Malcom was already a teenager almost an adult when I was born so my brothers would play rough with him and my sisters would be giggling about some cute boy at school or doing each others hair. So Ma took me into the kitchen to have a little girl time and to keep me from getting hurt. Even thought they wouldn't let me play with them anyways.
Ma taught me how use the oven and gave me a cook book then let me do everything else on my own. The first batch was a normal tasting chocolate cookie but then the next time I added some secret Ingredients that just made everyone melt I guess. I always loved hanging with Ma in the kitchen. We would gossip about some of our neighbors and sometimes my siblings. I guess that's why I don't really cook unless I'm home or if I have to. I don't want to mess up my good memories. Although, to move forward in life you have to make more memories or so I've heard. And who knows, maybe Mark and I will have our own thing in the kitchen.

"Sean Get Back Here!" Mark yelled. Sean ran through the kitchen followed by Mark. He stopped next to me. "What are you two doing?" I asked. "He took something from me but its okay. Nothing my Irish ball needs to worry about." He said and booped me on the nose. I giggled. "If I need to fight Sean just tell me. I can take his cookie away." I smiled. I ran my hand through his hair before I realized I had flour on my hands and now it was all in his Black hair. I giggled. He looked like he had been in the snow and it was adorable. "What's so funny?" I pointed to his head and he ran a hand through his hair and got flour on his hands. "Oh wow thanks." He said. I laughed more. "You think you're so funny don't you." I shook my head and then he grabbed a hand full of flour and rubbed it all on my head. "UH! MARK!" I said. We started fighting, or more like tickling each other. Then Ma walked in. She had just walked out of the room when Mark ran in. "I think you both should go freshin up before dinner." We both stopped and nodded. We walked out of the room and to the bathroom.

"You're such an arse." I mumbled under my breath. "Hey. I didn't start this." I rolled my eyes. "It was by accident. I didn't know I had flour on my hands." I had gotten all the flour out of my hair and a pair of strong arms wrapped around my waist. "Sure.... it wasn't an excuse to get us alone." He smirked. He placed gentle kisses on my neck. "M-mark. We can't. Not here." He sighed and stopped. I turned and faced him. "I love ya but good things come to those who wait." I smiled. I gave him a kiss and then headed back to the kitchen.
Like I said, here's the next chapter! Sorry the other one as short, I just couldn't think of anything that would go one after.
